The white gypsum dunes that are the White Sands is a geologic formation only about 8,000 years old. This unique feature, recently referred to as the “Galapagos of North America” is the largest, 712 km², gypsum dunes formation in the world.
A recently published conference paper tells about a rather embarrassing situation in the nepticuloid investigations in a country of extraordinary biodiversity (see an open access paper: Stonis J. On October 16, 2015, Professor J. R. Stonis, researcher and educator, the Executive Director of B.A.B.I, was awarded a Memorial Medal for Merits to the Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences in Vilnius.
